Acts 3 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. Acts 3:2 – A man every day was brought to one of the gates of the temple area. Due to having no use of his legs since the day he was born, he was brought to these gates daily to beg for people’s kindness. Kindness to change his situation to where he was no longer lame in his leg? No, that wasn’t even on his radar. While unsure how old he was, likely he was at least in his 20’s but easily could have been much older too. Over that amount of time he settled this was his life and if people would be willing to bless him with a little spare change maybe he could meet some of his physical needs. Never though did he think one day he’d be carried to the temple gate in the morning and running back home that evening. Yet when followers of Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, took time to see the needs around them, everything changed for this man. Mosaic laws and temple sacrifices didn’t save him year after year, but one encounter with the Holy Spirit forever changed this man. In our story we have people much like this man within our chapter. Sitting in their despair for too long, settling there is no hope for them because all the worldly means of fixing their situation didn’t fix anything. What needs to happen in their story is an encounter with the Holy Spirit of the Lord. How the Lord designed this to take place is when the new temple of the Lord, believers, comes to those in needs and introduces them to Jesus. Be a part of the work God is doing by showing up and gazing at those in need. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3611

Question To Ponder: What could be a “temple gate” that people today sit by hoping for help to come to them there?
