Ezekiel 48 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

These are the names of the tribes: Beginning at the northern extreme, beside the way of Hethlon to Lebo-hamath, as far as Hazar-enan (which is on the northern border of Damascus over against Hamath), and extending from the east side to the west, Dan, one portion. ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭48‬:‭1‬ ‭– As we read through this final chapter of Ezekiel, yes, it does fall into that category of Old Testament chapters that could easily be skimmed through. Its entirety is listing off the allotments for the twelve tribes and the space set aside for the Temple area. Yet even in that we are reminded of a few things. First, all of God’s people will have a place set aside for them. You will never have to worry about Heaven filling up and you can’t be squeezed in. Second, God’s plan is to be smack in the middle of His people. Meaning if you want to draw closer to the Lord you must go deeper with the Lord’s people. Also that with these allotments, each one neighbored another tribe. Meaning God isn’t intending separation between His people but desires them to be planted near one another. Truly each one of those could be a powerful sermon! Message to takeaway today? Don’t skim. It’s so easy to see passages like these and assume there is nothing applicable for your life today, but when such passages come across your reading plan choose to lean in deeper to that passage to discover why the Lord left it in His holy scripture. Every word in scripture is true and given for our benefit, some words are just going take a little more digging to discover that benefit, yet know there is rich reward in digging deeply into God’s word. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3599

Question To Ponder: What is a passage you struggle to understand why it’s left in scripture?
