You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the sojourners who reside among you and have had children among you. They shall be to you as native-born children of Israel. With you they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel. In whatever tribe the sojourner resides, there you shall assign him his inheritance, declares the Lord God. Ezekiel 47:22-23 – Let’s once again remember that this Temple being spoke about in Ezekiel is a future temple still to be built in the last days. Now while some believe all this is just symbolic, I believe it to be a literal temple that will be built and we’ll see the other things, such as the land division in our chapter, also taking place. While spelling out the land borders for Israel’s tribes is something we see done other places in Israel, this version is unique and that uniqueness caught my attention. As we see in our verses even the sojourners, the non-native people who dwelt alongside Israel who also chose to follow the Lord, were allotted inheritance in this dividing out. Not only that, but their children born to them would be considered full-fledged Israelites. Not lesser than, not foreigners, but native-born children of Israel with all the blessings that were attached to that. I bring this up for is reveals God’s desire is to bring all under His care as His people. Old tribal lines and old standards of admittance in are set aside now. If you are born into Israel you are a part of Israel. For us, if you are born again, you are born into the family of God. You have the standings and rights as the most holy of person you can think of (other than Jesus!). You are a full-fledged child of God all because of God’s grace. Let’s cherish this truth that when we follow Jesus we’re made complete children of the Most High God. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3598
