Ezekiel 46 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

When the prince provides a freewill offering, either a burnt offering or peace offerings as a freewill offering to the Lord, the gate facing east shall be opened for him. And he shall offer his burnt offering or his peace offerings as he does on the Sabbath day. Then he shall go out, and after he has gone out the gate shall be shut. ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭46‬:‭12‬ ‭- What we see spoken about in this chapter is worship in this future temple. A significant part of their Sabbath, think our Sunday morning worships, was that the east gate of the temple grounds would open. All other days it was to be shut, but on the Sabbath and other holy days was it allowed to be opened. See though from our verse the east gate would be randomly opened. Why? For the prince if he wanted to give a special, voluntary, not-required offering to the Lord. This special way was opened only on the Sabbaths, but if the prince decided he wanted to give an extra special blessing to the Lord that same gate would open for that any day any time. Brothers and sisters, see what this passage is alluding to for us today. Yes, God is listening and welcome you close when the church doors are opened on Sunday. But also remember that you can approach the Lord any day anytime because of your standing with Him due to Jesus. As with the prince, the gate to the temple will always open for those who seek the Lord. Know you don’t have to wait till Sunday to draw near to the Lord and don’t blow off how special it is that we can come to God at all times. Let these passages of the Old Testament remind you of how limiting intimacy was with God then and how unlimited we can have it with the Father now because of Jesus! I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3597

Question To Ponder: Why would God open the gate for these special offerings?
