They shall forget their shame and all the treachery they have practiced against me, when they dwell securely in their land with none to make them afraid, when I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them from their enemies’ lands, and through them have vindicated my holiness in the sight of many nations. Ezekiel 39:26-27 - This chapter spent a large amount of its words laying out the devastation to come against this Gog that was to seek out the future demise of Israel. In the process though of spelling out what was to come first Gog, the Lord also spoke of the future restoration of Israel. Our verses highlights an aspect of our restoration that maybe we don’t take enough time to remember. God isn’t wanting us to camp out in remembrance of all the sin we committed. See in our verses, the Lord says Israel will forget their shame and sin when the Lord restored them. Is this meaning God is wanting us to totally forget the sin we do and pretend like it never happened? No, but I do believe the Lord isn’t wanted us to forever sit in our shame either. If we’ve been forgiven, then the Lord wants us existing as such. Not acting as if we never sinned, but living as one who carries no shame for Jesus made us holy. How are you doing with this? Do you live playing as if your past sin is nothing? Do you live constantly in shame over your past sin even though you’ve given it to Jesus?
