Now you, son of man, raise a lamentation over Tyre, and say to Tyre, who dwells at the entrances to the sea, merchant of the peoples to many coastlands, thus says the Lord God: “O Tyre, you have said, ‘I am perfect in beauty.’” Ezekiel 27:2-3 – Tyre was a powerful coastland city that boasted of its greatness and wealth. See even the way the Lord records the words of Tyre with the city claiming itself perfect in all beauty. The length of this chapter reveals just how great this city truly was and the Lord used the imagery of a powerful ship on the sea to help the reader understand. Yet with all its greatest, that ship still sank when the power of God opposed it. As I dwell on the idea of the massive powerhouse of a boat sinking in the sea, I also am reminded of the passage in John 6 I just preached on about Jesus walking on the water. There a small boat, holding a dozen guys, was battling a stormy sea, yet this time the power of God wasn’t against them but with them. Remember then how the story goes, they safely made it to shore. A powerful ship sinking and a small fishing vessel surviving, all because on the power of God. Today you can choose which direction the power of God is working in your life. Will it be against you because you choose sin and rejection of God? Will His power be used for you because you have chosen to follow Him? I pray you choose Jesus and see the wonderous power of God used within your life for your good and His glory. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3580
