Ezekiel 4 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Then lie on your left side, and place the punishment of the house of Israel upon it. For the number of the days that you lie on it, you shall bear their punishment. For I assign to you a number of days, 390 days, equal to the number of the years of their punishment. So long shall you bear the punishment of the house of Israel. Ezekiel 4:4-5 – I’ve seen some crazy things that people do online to get views. People will record themselves for hundreds of days trying to get noticed by some celebrity. People will eat 10,000 calories in a day to shock people. And sometimes their insanity pays off, they get noticed and they get the views. Likely if Ezekiel was in our day, this would have appeared to us as some social media stunt to get views. By the command of God Ezekiel was to lay on his left side for 390 days straight. Whether that was a full 24 hours a day or just during certain hours of the day we aren’t sure, but regardless this would have been a challenge, and by likely many viewers, a stunt that seemed crazy. Yet this wasn’t done for the likes nor the views, this was done out of obedience for the Lord. Let’s ask ourselves what are we willing to do to be noticed by people that is even more extreme than what we’re willing to do for the Lord? Maybe we’re willing to change our entire personality to be accepted by a certain group but unwilling to change a single destructive habit for the Lord. Maybe we’re willing to keep a massive streak of daily posting online to gain followers but unwilling to keep a streak longer than a few days of reading scripture. For the Lord Ezekiel laid on his side for 390 days, then turned over and did it another 40. Let’s settle that the Lord is more worthy to be sacrificed for than the things of this world. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3557

Question To Ponder: Why might someone be willing to go so far for the world’s attention?
