Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! Psalm 100:4 – How you approach someone matters, and even an outsider could give a good guess on how a situation is going to go by how even just one person approaches the other. For example, if you see someone approaching another person and their fists are clinched, arms up ready to box, and their face has fury written all over it, likely we can guess how the interaction is going to go. How about if you see two people, running hard towards each other with their arms stretched out to each other for an embrace. We can easily guess it’s going to be one of those thematic moments of embrace after a long time apart. How you approach someone matters for it says much to what’s within the person approaching and their plans for the interaction. So how are you approaching God? Would someone on the outside be able to look at your approach of God and see gratitude and love from your end? Would they see someone who seems apathetic about their time with God? Would they see someone who is angry with God, or even worse, someone who is rejecting time with God? Imagine someone approaching God like we see in our verse. They break through the doors to His courts with loud praises, words of gratitude, and blessings to the Lord. Everything about their being is poured into a continual offering of praise to the Lord for what He has done in their life. Any around someone like that wouldn’t have to question what was in this person’s heart toward the Lord; easily seen is their love for their Lord. Let’s then daily approach the Lord in a way that honors Him and shows the world around us the love we have for Him. Apathy and indifference set aside, praise and gratitude is lifted instead. How you approach someone matters, so let’s approach the Lord with praise. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3514
