Psalm 93 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Your decrees are very trustworthy; holiness befits your house, O Lord, forevermore. Psalm 93:5 – While a short psalm, its message is clear and stated upfront in the first few words…the Lord reigns. This psalm speaks of the wonder of our God and the power He possesses. Power that is greater than any adversary the world may conjure up. In the final verse, which is our verse for the day, the psalmist pens how God’s decrees, or words, are fully trustworthy and how holiness adorns His house. Not only is this God we follow powerful, but perfect as well. Let’s look at the idea of the holiness of His house though further. In the New Testament (1 Cor 3:17) we learn that the church is God’s house, meaning that God’s holiness adorns us His church. While this is true, what if our lives today aren’t imitating that holy standard set by our God? One commentator put it this way, “If we are not holy, how can we adorn the house of God? We cannot! We do the very opposite. We dishonor it – and the God we profess to serve” (Boice). Imagine having a clean house, yet you have pets who are covered in mud in the house. How likely are you truly able to have a “clean” house with muddy pets running everywhere around the house? If we don’t have the holiness of Jesus then we can’t be God’s holy house. Without Jesus we remain in an unholy state, still covered in the “mud” of our sin, and instead of adorning the house of the Lord, we dishonor the Lord. Know though the doors to God’s house are open to you by first coming to Jesus and allowing Him to make you holy. And if this is something you’ve already done, yet you are choosing to live unholy, do you truly feel like the Lord is going to welcome that sort of life into His home? Repent and dwell in God’s holiness instead. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3507

Question To Ponder: Why is God so serious about us being holy?
