Deuteronomy 6 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

When your son asks you in time to come, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the rules that the Lord our God has commanded you?’ Deuteronomy 6:20 – If the law was handled by the Israelites how God said, it would be no surprise the interaction in this verse would take place. The Israelites were to be always about the law. They were to talk about it when walking around their villages, they were to discuss it in their home around the table, they were to think about it when they went to sleep and when they woke up. With such constant talk about the law, it makes complete sense that their children would one day ask, “Why do you always talk about and follow God’s law like you do?” Their answer would be the same to their children as it would be to any who might ask us what 1 Peter 3:15 says of what is the reason for this hope that we have within us. Why do we follow Jesus? Why do we talk about His word all the time? Why do we live differently than the world does? Because Jesus rescued us from the pits of slavery and brought us into His promise. For Israel it was slavery to Egpyt, for us it is slavery to sin. For Israel it was the Promised Land, for us it is eternal life. Once we were dead, slaves to sin, yet now we are alive and free all because of Jesus. Let there then be a change in our speech, our walk, and our lifestyle. Since God has done so much for us let us live for Him how He calls us to so those around us grow curious enough about this change in our life that they ask what it’s all about. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3445

Question To Ponder: Do people see a noticeable difference in your lifestyle than someone who isn’t a believer?
