Deuteronomy 4 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him. Deuteronomy 4:35 – Moses, still speaking in this chapter to the people of Israel, is telling them all he can to help them remain faithful to the Lord after crossing the Jordan into their Promised Land. He reminds them of everything that God had done for the nation to rescue them when they were enslaved in Egypt. How God worked through signs and wonders and war to break the grip of Pharoah. How God had spoken to them through the fire like no other god could. Moses then in our verse reveals why God allowed the people to see such wonderous moves of God. It was shown to them so that they might know and believe that the Lord alone is God and there are no other gods beside Him. These signs and works of God’s mighty hand were to confirm for His people that He was the God to be worshipped and followed. While we today may get fussy with God for we don’t have signs like plagues of frogs to convince us He is God, we must keep in mind what we have been given is far greater. We’ve been given the resurrection. We’ve been given the completed Word of God. We’ve been given the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. The very Spirit that came to rest in the Tent of Meeting that only Moses could go talk with in their day now dwells within every follower of Jesus. As in their day, these things are shown to us that we might know that the Lord is God. See then the wonders God has placed in front of you to show you this truth. Praise Him for not leaving us in wonder but providing the greatest signs one could give to open our eyes to His existence and power. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3443

Question To Ponder: What is another way the Lord reveals to us who He is within our life?
