Acts 18 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, “Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people.” And he stayed a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. Acts 18:9-11 – When one thinks of characters in scripture that went through the ringer for their obedience to the Lord certain names stand out. Job for sure, the three that were tossed into blazing furnace, and of course the Apostle Paul. In one of his letters he lists of a “few” of the things he went through as a result of following Jesus, and the trials were of many kinds and of many times. Yet take note of what is promised by God in this passage, for the entirely of his stay in this location no harm would come to Paul and no one would attack him. Paul is given a heavenly promise that he’ll have a stent of persecution-less ministry work! No stoning, no beating with rods, no hate-filled accusation…just peace for a season of serving. What a reprieve that must have been for Paul to spend well over a year in peace and just seeing the church explode in growth. What I hope you gain from this is that the Lord also provides seasons of rest for the faithful disciple. So often the message is that disciples better be prepared for the most challenging life possible and the hate of the world coming their way. Which is a true message that ought to be spoken, yet we must remember that our God is sovereign and is also able to provide seasons of restoration for our weary souls. Simply know whichever season you are in, whether that be a season of challenge or a season of rest, both are from the Lord and both can be a season we see great work done for the Lord in. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3626
