Acts 8 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

But Saul was ravaging the church, and entering house after house, he dragged off men and women and committed them to prison. Acts 8:3 – Over the years I’ve read this verse many times, but due to the season I am in currently I never saw it like I did today. In our verse we had Christians being brought to prison, a place no one would have chosen to go to and likely wasn’t a place that most normally had a pleasant experience in. Yet remember to take in the picture of what this verse is saying. This isn’t like Joseph in the Old Testament alone in prison for years, this is dozens, if not hundreds, of Christians being thrown in prison…together. It’s one thing to be alone in a hard season, but when you are in that hard season surrounded by other believers it changes everything. Like for me, we’re in an extended NICU stay with our new baby. It’s a place, like a first century prison, no one would choose to be in. Yet I have found such comfort when I run into other believers in the season with me. Maybe it’s a nurse who is a Christian or maybe it’s another NICU dad that believes. I’ve even had another NICU dad come in and pray over our baby. It doesn’t matter where you are, if the church is together revival can take place. Maybe that’s a prison, maybe that’s a NICU room, but God can renew His people when His people are together. So maybe this verse isn’t as dire as I always had read it before, maybe dragging off hundreds of Christians and throwing them all into prison together wasn’t the smartest idea if they wanted to crush the movement. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3616

Question To Ponder: How have you experienced the support having other believers can offer in a hard season?
