Acts 6 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. Acts 6:1 – Something that the Lord has been teaching me through this NICU experience my family is navigating currently is to “Keep the molehills molehills.” There are certainly things that need to be handled with a mountain of care and attention, yet there are other things that we can be tempted to treat as mountains when in reality they aren’t that big of deal. There are also things I’m learning that just don’t matter that I can be tempted to give way too much headspace too. Now am I saying that this group of widows being neglected doesn’t matter? Absolutely not. Of course it mattered, but from what I’m gathering from this passage is that the complaint of it rose throughout the entire church to the Apostles ears, then then whole number of disciples had to be brought together to figure this out. When if people just shared it would have been fixed. Certainly God used this and it needed to unfold as it did, but in life and in the church, there are things we are making far too big of deal about that as a result is keeping us from what really matters. Focusing on truly a non-issue in the church or worrying about something in our family that we can’t do anything about just keeps us from the greater mission we’re called to give headspace and effort to. Be willing to look at this “crisis” in front of you with a different angle. Maybe it does fall into crisis category, maybe it’s molehill though that can be addressed with a quick decision or act of selflessness. Don’t let the molehills trip you up from the mission. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3614

Question To Ponder: What is a molehill you’ve seen in the church that was treated like a mountain of an issue?
