Ezekiel 1 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness, but each had four faces, and each of them had four wings. Ezekiel 1:5-6 – Let’s agree together, this vision Ezekiel had is difficult to understand! In fact many scholars say that the vision recorded in the first three chapters in Ezekiel is the most unusual in all the scriptures. Here we have four living creatures, angels, each with four wings and somehow possessing four faces each. However the spirit led them they went, faithfully moving over the earth as the Lord directed. Then comes the wheels, and while impossible to fully visualize them, I found a commentary that suggested to view it as a four-wheeled chariot pulling the throne of God onto the scene. Then the throne came in, but the part that stopped Ezekiel in his tracks was the One seated above the throne. Powerful and great, blazing in glory, He witnessed the what he labeled as the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord, and this made him fall to his face in worship. Image seeing all the craziness of everything else and remaining standing, yet just the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord was so powerful to knock him down. Not the full glory of God, not God Himself, but just the appearance of what Ezekiel thought the likeness of God’s glory must be like. I believe we truly underestimate how amazing Heaven is going to be where we get to enjoy the fullness of God Himself. Yes, there will be angelic creatures that will be amazing to witness, but the One seated on the throne of Heaven will capture our attention for eternity. We serve an amazing God, let’s begin today to offer Him our devotion and worship like He deserves. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3554
