1 Thessalonians 1 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

…so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. 1 Thessalonians 1:7 – In his greetings portion of his letter to the church of Thessalonica, we see Paul giving this church high praise. They had embraced the message of the Gospel fully, even though they only had a short time with Paul when he was with them. They saw his example, heard his words, and repented fully of their sinful ways. They had become a church on fire for the Lord, and that fire was being felt elsewhere. In verse 7 Paul gives some of the greatest praise to this church he could give. The Thessalonians were an example to the churches in Macedonia and Achaia. Meaning that not only where they handling their faith life at home well, but even surrounding peoples saw their transformation from their sin and their steadfastness to the Lord. The Thessalonians were setting an example of faith and preaching the word so well that Paul even humorously hinted he could quit his job as a missionary and let them take over instead. What we find in this church ought to be found within the church today and individual believers. We ought to become an example to the people around us of what faith in Jesus actually looks. They should see in our life the sort of rescue from sin God can do. They should see from our life what obedience to God looks like. They should be able to see from us what a life devoted to God’s ways looks like. High praise was given to the believers who set such an example; would our lives receive such praise? Would people see from your life what a proper example of faithfulness to the Lord looks like? I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3525

Question To Ponder: Who is someone in your story that sets a good example of what a follower of Jesus should look like?
