Psalm 70 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help me! Psalm 70:1 – As I read this verse, I can’t help but think of this line from my favorite series Lord of the Rings. One of the main characters, a wizard named Gandalf, is chastised for being late, and his response back was this: “A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.” When it comes to the Lord’s help in our life, essentially this is the same situation. God’s help is never late, and God’s help is never too early that it misses being of use when we need it most. God’s help comes precisely when God means for it to come in our life. Yet we see here in scripture David telling God to hurry up with the help! Make haste is the words David uses. If God’s help comes precisely when He means it too, are we allowed to pray such prayers to ask for a hurrying up on the help? Absolutely we can. We don’t know God’s plans, and we don’t know what the precise time the help is supposed to come, all we see in the struggle we’re in and the need we have that needs taken care of. God is not burdened by us coming to Him asking for help in the moment that we need it. What we must do though is remain trusting Him when the help doesn’t come precisely when we want it to. You may seek to hasten God in His provision, but He still may not see it as the right time yet to provide. Certainly pray and ask for it, knowing that in some supernatural way our prayers do play a part in seeing the work of God happen. Remember though that if the help doesn’t come precisely when you want it to, it still will come precisely when God means it to. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3483

Question To Ponder: Why might God delay bringing the provision we are asking for?
