Deuteronomy 2 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

And when you approach the territory of the people of Ammon, do not harass them or contend with them, for I will not give you any of the land of the people of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to the sons of Lot for a possession.’ Deuteronomy 2:19 – Moses is recounting the trek that he and the nation of Israel were on to return to the border of the Promised Land. Along the path Israel came to the lands of different people groups, such as we see in our verse above where they came to the territory of the people of Ammon. Notice though that God forbid them to take that land for it was land He had set aside for another. Yes, they were on the right path of following God, but that didn’t mean everything they saw was meant for them. God certainly had land in mind for them, but the land in front of them was given to another and they weren’t meant to take it from them. As we walk after the Lord we are going to see blessings that He has given other people. Maybe it’s a job position, maybe it’s a baby, maybe it’s an open door that you’d like to have, maybe it’s a relationship. Whatever the blessing, is it something you see they got, but you didn’t. In that space it’s tempting to be frustrated and bitter, even with the Lord, for they already have what you are going after. They already have land while we’re still wandering to our Promised Land. Yet even in that statement remember that while God has already blessed them, your blessing is still coming. No it’s not in your hands yet, but God hasn’t forgotten you. God doesn’t bless us in the same ways or on the same timetable. Some receive while some wait, but all who follow God are blessed. Don’t allow the presence of the blessing in another’s life discourage you from your walk of faith after Jesus. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3441

Question To Ponder: Why might one get frustrated seeing another receive a blessing?
