…the Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob. Psalm 87:2 – Imagine a grandparent on Christmas Day looking out their window seeing all their children and grandchildren coming up their front steps through the door to celebrate that special day all together as a family. In that moment that front door is a place they deeply love for it’s the place their family is all gathered. Let this image and that warm feeling connect with the idea of this verse. The gates of Jerusalem were the place where God’s people would come from all around to enter into His city to worship Him. Sure He loved the other cities where His people lived their lives, but seeing the flocks of His people entering through the gates, all coming together to worship Him, that brought the Lord such joy. Know God loves having His people coming together to worship Him. Sure He loves it when we do our individual daily worship of Him, but there is something extra pleasing to the Lord when His people gather together as one body to lift praises to Him. My encouragement to you then is if your habit right now isn’t gathering in some way with a church family, and you’re physically able to, then do so. I know many people have their issues with the church, and maybe you don’t see the need for going, but if nothing else see that such a choice of going to church pleases the Lord. He loves seeing His people gather like that in His house. While it may not be something you desire, be willing to commit to going to a church as a pleasing offering to the Lord, and know that it will be a choice that will return blessing to you. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3501
