Psalm 80 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Turn again, O God of hosts! Look down from heaven, and see; have regard for this vine…Psalm 80:14 – The people of Israel are the “vine” spoken of in this verse. The image given is that the Lord took this vine out of oppression and slavery and into a beautiful land and planted it. It grew wildly and covered the land with it’s health. Yet, the protecting walls around this vine were broken and this once healthy vine began to see a decline. People ate its fruit and the beasts of the land ravaged the plant. The psalmist, still caught up in the imagery of it all, cries out on behalf of Israel the vine for God to look down from heaven and come through with rescue again for His people. As with the vine in our passage, we too can find ourselves in a season where the health we once experienced is in a decline. People in our lives are tearing at our fruit of peace, love, and joy. The enemy is digging at our life try his best to ravage it beyond repair. In that spot all can seem hopeless, yet in that similar spot see where the psalmist turned. He turned to the God who plucked the vine of Israel out of their last difficult spot and planted them in fresh ground. He knew hope wasn’t gone for God was still there. In your story know hope is not gone for God is still here. Your life may be under heavy attack and as you look, from nowhere is help coming. In such a spot turn to the Lord and ask Him to have regard for you. He sees you, He loves you, and He knows what you are going through. Often He is just waiting for us to come to Him for our help. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3494

Question To Ponder: Why would God want us to only come to Him in our time of need?
