Psalm 75 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

At the set time that I appoint I will judge with equity. Psalm 75:2 – God chooses when the punishment of evil in the world will come. Ironically I was in a prison this week talking with an inmate about this exact topic. The inmate, who has now been radically saved by Jesus, and I were discussing all the evils still in this world and at the same time discussing the greatness of our God. When you put those two things together the obvious move would be to have this great God end the evils still in this world. We know He can. We know He sees. Yet, as we can see, the evils are still present in this world. Death is still here. Cancer is still here. The wicked are still doing their wicked deeds. The conversation then that this inmate and I had likely mirrors conversations you’ve had…why would God let evil continue when He has the power to stop it? While that’s a big question, I do believe this psalm and especially our verse tells us the answer. God is going to deal with the wickedness in this world, but it’s going to be on His timing. At the time that He sets He will judge the evil in this world with full justice. Those who have refused Him, the devil, and all his demons will be judged according to their evil works and He will put an end to evil. We must then settle in knowing that God has a day He will take care of this evil in this world, even when that day isn’t today. It can be challenging to our faith when we see our powerful God and this intense evil and yet the Lord’s answer is “today’s not the appointed day to deal with it.” While I could give you some possible reasons why that is, in the end it comes down to trusting God’s plan. Trust He sees all and will come through on His word. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3489

Question To Ponder: What is a possible reason God may delay in judging the wickedness in our world?
