Deuteronomy 27 – Pastor Mac Daily DEVO

Cursed be anyone who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’ Deuteronomy 27:26 – In the last section of verses within this chapter we see Moses give multiple ways that a person would find themselves under the curse of God’s wrath. If they made any idols, if they killed their neighbor, to even things like sleeping with their mother-in-law were things off limits to God’s people and they needed to know God’s wrath would be on any who committed such vile actions. Yet likely for many Israelites they saw this list and was just as appalled by it as we would be and would in no way come close to breaking those rules. Meaning they likely felt they were safe from God’s wrath, yet Moses then dropped the last curse in our verse today. Cursed is anyone who does not do the fullness of the words of the law. What this means is that while you may not sin in the outlandish ways spoken about in the other curses, any who does not follow God’s law completely would still be under the curse of His wrath. Meaning everyone was under such a curse. This was the story for Isreal that they needed to accept. There was no way that their right living could complete the fullness of God’s law making it impossible for them to ever be holy in God’s sight. They needed a Savior to make them right, and so do we. Only though the holiness of Jesus can we be holy enough to be with the Father. Only Jesus can lift the curse of our sin off us. If then you have been relying on your deep obedience and righteous living to make you at peace with the Father, know without Jesus none of that will draw you close to the Lord. Only though Jesus can we be saved from our sin, have our curse lifted, and be one with the Father. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3465

Question To Ponder: Why would God make it so there is only one way to Him?
