- Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 – How gloriously simple yet how immensely powerful this passage is. Here we see the pathway spelled out for us on how to be saved from the wrath of God on our sin and the eternal condemnation in Hell. Confession and belief. First we see confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Now don’t get too hung up on the idea that one must verbally say this out loud for them to be saved, I believe God is gracious enough if there is a true desire for following Him in someone’s life that even if those exact words don’t come out verbally they still will be saved. The point is there needs to be an agreement with the claim that Jesus is Lord and that He is everything He says He is. Something in Paul’s day would be a very risky claim to agree with for it came with steep punishment. Yet just saying the words “Jesus is Lord” won’t do anything for you unless they are coupled with a belief in the power of resurrection. For if Jesus never rose from the dead, then our entire system of belief is worthless, yet because He rose from the dead there is the power to grant eternal life through Jesus. Be willing to agree with the claims of Jesus about Himself that His is the Lord and the only way to the Father. Choose to believe with your whole being that Jesus raised from the dead and is truly alive today. Such is the pathway to salvation! If that is something you have been hesitant to do, reach out for I’d love to connect with you. If you have made this chose already, then read verse 14-15 of this chapter for those are for you! - Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, “I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.” Romans 10:20 – God is now showing Himself to all, even those who didn’t search out for Him and ask about Him. What we need to understand is the importance of us in this process. What did the verses say prior to this? “How are they to hear without someone preaching?” God has opened the doors for all to come to Him, but for those not searching for God they need someone to step into their story telling them about Him. That’s where the Christian finds their purpose in life. To tell those not seeking God right now about how He is seeking them. The door is open for them, how can you today get their attention to that open door to God and help them see what’s waiting for them on the other side? - How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Romans 10:14-15 – This is the morning of day four of middle school camp. Something I’m so grateful for is all the volunteer leaders who signed up to help this year with camps. When it speaks of the feet carrying the good news, this is them. For Paul, his heart was breaking for the Jewish people who wouldn’t accept Jesus. For me right now it’s these students who need to accept Jesus. These leaders then are seeing the lack of hearing the message of Jesus within these students and stepping up to the plate. Maybe you’re not able to be here with us at camp, but who right now is your heart breaking for to know Jesus? Now what is one step you can take in helping them know the message of Jesus? If you have been preached the good news and you’ve made the choice to be a follower of Jesus, you’re next step needs to be in a direction of helping someone else come to know Jesus like you know Him.
