- Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! Psalms 95:1-2 – Six times within this psalm do we see the phrase “let us” appear. This shows us an important message that if we haven’t grasped a hold of yet we need to. That our faith in God isn’t a solo act, nor is it something that “they” should do yet not us. Our faith in God is something we are called to do together in community. Isolation was never the direction or example Jesus set for us on how to live out your faith well. Finding solitude to be refreshed by alone time with God is a part, but Jesus always came back to the community of believers to continue the ministry work. Be asking how much community truly plays a part in your walk with God. Just as it’s so much easier to move a broken down car with others, so is walking in community when it comes to our faith life. - For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work. Psalm 95:7-9 – What happened at Meribah/Massah? In Exodus 17:7 we see the story where the Israelites were grumbling about their situation after God rescued them from Egypt. They had nothing to drink so they questioned if God was even with them anymore. What we see being directed in this psalm is to not respond to the moves of God like these people did. They, after seeing God move in front of them in mighty ways and hearing His voice to them, still hardened their hearts and didn’t believe. You may not of have a Red Sea part or water come from a stone, but God has made His presence know to you. You can hear His word through scripture. You can see His majesty in the sunset. You can see His hand working in the lives of the broken. Today, if you hear His voice and see His working, don’t harden your heart towards Him. He is doing exactly what He promised He’d do, He’s being faithful to His word. If even with these moves of God in front of you, you still close off your heart to Him, may I gently ask why? What is it that God is/isn’t doing that’s causing such a hard heart towards Him? Know I’d love to listen. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2055
