- For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up, but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another. Psalms 75:6-7 – If you’re seeking blessing, a lifting up, or just anything truly good outside of God you won’t find it. Here the psalmist writes that the promotion and execution of justice comes from God alone. The blessing and promotion for the righteous and judgment on the unrighteous. So if we were to ask ourselves who should we strive after and who’s word we should follow and who is it that we should aim to please with our life, don’t you think it would be the One that has the authority we’re reading about within this psalm? Let your life be about God and His ways and trust the lifting up you’re seeking with Him. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1138
- We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks, for your name is near. We recount your wondrous deeds. Psalm 75:1 – Within this verse is my way anymore of handling life when life is simply just too much. When I’m filled with fear and worry over how things in life are going and I’m overrun with confusion with how to handle the future, I have been seeking to “recount God’s wondrous deeds.” Meaning I’ve been seeking to stop the spiral of the question “what if” can take me down and replace the spiral with remembering all the ways God has already come through for me. Maybe for you the spiral of worry and fear has just held you captive for so long. Today, our psalm is showing a path to break the spiral. Remind yourself of all the ways God has come through for you in the past. Let the previous ways of God’s provision encourage you in the heaviness of today. Even if all you can think of is how Jesus made a way for us out of our sin, that’s more than good enough! Dwell on Him and how God has already come through for you as you navigate the seasons of life where the provision is yet to come. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2035
