- For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. Psalms 62:1-2 – Notice as you read through this psalm how often we see the word “alone” or phrases like “only from Him.” This reminds us that the peace and hope we are looking for in life isn’t going to come from multiple places. There is only one place to find true peace, hope, joy, and salvation. That’s only in God alone. Know you’re going to be told all those things and more can be found elsewhere, but those voices that speak that to you aren’t trustworthy like scripture is. What you need is found only in God. Let’s stop then searching elsewhere for what can only be found in Him. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 998
- For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Psalm 62:5-7 – On God alone. For God alone. In God alone. Such is the theme that is repeated within this psalm. That it is in God alone that our psalmist find his everything. He found his shelter, salvation, peace, hope, refuge, and purpose in God alone. This is not just a theme simply repeated in this Psalm, but is repeated throughout many of the psalms written by David. Hear then the heart of it again, only find your all in Jesus. Stop running to these other sources of that are offering you sustenance because their fill is only temporary and harmful. Run to God alone for His fill is eternal, holy, and beneficial for your story. So where are you going to today? If God, take a bold step in confidence. If not God, know a change in direction is all you need. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2022
