Psalm – Chapter 45

  • In place of your fathers shall be your sons; you will make them princes in all the earth. 17 I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore nations will praise you forever and ever. Psalm 45:16-17 – This psalm is unique in its structure from some of the previous psalms we have studied. It’s written to a king, speaking his praises, and as such it seems out of place in scripture. Yet as we look more closely and even see how the New Testament speaks of this psalm, it’s clear this king in this psalm is no ordinary king, but instead King Jesus. We see in this psalm how the King is to be united with His bride, and according to scripture the bride of Christ is the church. The verses above speak to the outcome of the union of Jesus and the church is sons from all the earth and they will cause the King’s name to be remembered for all generations. What a beautiful picture to find deep in the Old Testament, this image of the church flourishing and producing children of God who spread His praise and name all over for all time. Let us today remember our role as the bride of Christ. God has commissioned us to bring more people into His house, to make His name known to this generation so all nations will worship Him. Is there though any thought given to how this can be a part of your life today? Has “how to help someone know Jesus today” been on your radar this week? As I write this devotion, its valentine’s day, a day focused on love. Remember that you have never been shown greater love in this life than from Jesus, and that love has transformed your story for the better. That same love of Jesus is being offered to others too, but instead of embracing it they are still walking in darkness because someone hasn’t told them the good news yet of Jesus. If today is about love, let’s make it about sharing the most amazing love out there, the love of Jesus. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 3000

  • I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore nations will praise you forever and ever. Psalms 45:17 – Is this something your life is speaking concerning Jesus? Is by the way you live saying you will let nations know God’s name? Never forget that’s why we are here. To share the name and love of Jesus with the nations. Who’s one person you can begin that task of making God’s name known to them today? I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 981
  • …you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions…Psalm 45:7 – Maybe it’s with a healthier marriage than others. Maybe it’s with kids who behave better than most. Maybe it’s with more rest and time than others have. Maybe it’s with wealth that others don’t have. Maybe it’s with a better community than most have. How has God blessed you more than most? Know it’s not bad to be shown extra favor by God, it’s a blessing! But when shown this extra favor, however that favor comes into our story, we must ask a big question. How can I use this for God? We’ve been blessed well, let’s use that blessing well.
