Psalm – Chapter 30

  • O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me. Psalm 30:2 – Being a part of a church family means you are connected to a bunch of people’s lives. So when the seasons for illness comes around, you hear of so many that are feeling the effects of the illness. I’ve lost count of how many in our church body are dealing with some sort of virus right now. I also have multiple people in the hospital right now from my church family for various reasons. I know of few from our church family dealing with cancer. I know many from our church dealing with broken hearts. I know many from our church family are dealing with broken families. I know many are feeling simply broken themselves. Hear then the beautiful promise from this psalm, God can heal those who call upon Him. Here David is praising the Lord for the healing He had brought to David. We are unsure if the healing being praised for was due to physical or emotional brokenness, but whatever the damage was it was fully healed by the Lord. Know then today God can bring healing. He can heal the deepest wounds and clean out the most invasive infections. He can mend the most broken of hearts. Wherever and however you are needing healing, God can heal. Come today and call upon the Lord for healing. Be then patient and wait upon the Lord for that healing may not come immediately or even in the manner you hoped for, but we can be assured that the Lord will provide healing for His own. And even if the healing that is brought our way is Heaven, let us still find ourselves praising the Lord that He was able to remove the suffering and provide ultimate peace. • For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. Psalms 30:5 – Here is the reminder we often need as we study throughout the Old Testament about the character of God. Also it is the reminder you need as you experience the just and righteous side of of God in your life. That while God doesn’t go soft on sin and we will experience the shaping that comes when God is forming us into what we can be, that season isn’t forever and the joy and favor of God is what God wants us to rest in. We must remember that God is a perfect God and sin has no place in His presence or within the lives of His followers. God is also love and has a purpose for the season that is rough. Don’t let the shaping process blind you from the love that the Creator has for you. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 789
  • As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.” By your favor, O Lord, you made my mountain stand strong; you hid your face; I was dismayed. Psalm 30:6-7 – Here the psalmist recounts when he took refuge in his mountain, his kingdom and all the power and glory that came with it, when his enemy came. Instead of finding refuge in the one who established him in that kingdom, he found security in the kingdom itself. A commentary I read over this passage said this, “In that state, however, God showed him that there was no real security but in his favor: security not in what a man can draw around himself, but in the favor of God alone.” God may have blessed you with true strength or financial blessing or even deep relationships with others, but when trouble comes we must not just reach out to those blessings to provide for us but to reach out to the one who provided the blessing. The only true refuge and help in life comes from Jesus. We may find short term help in other places, but the lasting salvation from our troubles comes only from Jesus.
