- His glory is great through your salvation; splendor and majesty you bestow on him. For you make him most blessed forever; you make him glad with the joy of your presence. Psalm 21:5-6 – In the previous chapter we see God’s people praying for the king, asking for his blessing and protection. In our chapter today we see that God came through and provided such blessing and protection, and the people are praising the Lord because of it. The king was able to find victory in his battles and glory was coming his way, but our verses today highlight the truth surrounding such victory. The reason the king was able to stand victorious was because of God. Glory was coming to the king because God saved his life. The majesty and awe coming the king’s way came first from the Lord’s hand. God was the one who made the king blessed and the main reason the king had joy was because the king was in the Lord’s presence. The heartbeat of this psalm was to not make a big deal about the king, but to make a big deal about the God who brought the king victory and power. Our life ought to also not be about us and lifting our name high. For we would have no glory, no strength, no blessings, and no life if it wasn’t for the Lord providing such things within our story. We are alive today only because of the Lord’s allowance and blessing. Why then should our life be about us and lifting high our name? Shouldn’t it be about lifting high the name of the One who brought us to such a place of blessing? Dwell today on how you can make your name less and God’s name greater through your life. - He asked life of you; you gave it to him, length of days forever and ever. Psalms 21:4 – What are you asking from God right now? Directions on what to do now? Answers to why this is happening? Healing is this stage of your life? Provision for the lack you are facing? David here writes that he asked of life from God and God heard him and gave it to him. God hears you as well and if God is able to give life, He also is able to give you what you need. Talk with God today about your need and know He hears you. The request may be met differently than you expect, but know God doesn’t leave those who faithfully follow Him alone and without. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 781
- O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices, and in your salvation how greatly he exults! You have given him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah For you meet him with rich blessings; you set a crown of fine gold upon his head. Psalm 21:1-3 – God is the reason the king has what he has and is blessed like he is. It’s the Lord’s strength that fuels the kings rejoicing. It’s God who met the requests of the king. It’s God who set the king in power and placed the crown on his head. God is behind everything. Yes, this was all referring to king David, but it’s the same for our story too. God is behind everything in our story and is the reason we have everything we have. How can you acknowledge that more today and praise Him more for it? I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1738
