Psalm – Chapter 2

  • Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. Psalm 2:12 – This psalm puts power as the world knows it into the right view. All the nations of the world could gather all their forces to unite together against God in the most epic battle this world has ever witnessed. They could use all their weapons, all their soldiers, all their technologies, and all their resources in this war against God. And what do we learn from scripture is the Lord’s response? Laughter. For His power is so vastly greater than anything the world could muster, the Lord sees His opposition as a pointless effort that couldn’t even cause Him to flinch. While laughter is His first response, it’s not the Lord’s only response to such rejection of Him. His wrath can be quickly fueled and the result of opposing the Lord is death. So let’s listen carefully and obey the words of the psalmist in the chapter, “Kiss the Son.” What that means is to fully acknowledge the Lord’s power and submit to His as your Lord. Turn away from your turning away from the Lord. Blessings are being promised to all who choose to run to the Lord for shelter versus running to Him for war. See that either way your direction is towards the Lord. You could be coming at Him with weapons loaded, shields up, and hatred for Him fueling your actions. Or you could approach Him humbly, dropping the shield, and letting His love fuel your steps. Don’t let this be a choice you wait till “tomorrow” to make. Today choose to either submit to the Lord or choose to accept your fate as an opposer to the Almighty. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2957

  • Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. Psalm 2:10-12 – This psalm begins with the kings, rulers, and nations of the world boldly proclaiming their defiance to God. Saying they have the power to break the bonds God puts on them and are able to cast away His hold over them. Yet, what is God’s response? Laugher at such foolishness. One king’s power or a million king’s power united together could never even cause the Lord to flinch. Instead, the Lord has set His Son as the King over all nations, and this King has the power to easily break the powers of these defiant kings. Therefore…with all that truth laid out in front of us, be wise then which side you unite with. Side with the defiant world who thinks God is a bondage bringer and believes they hold the real power in this life, know your ending is death and eternity away from the God who could save you. Yet side with the Lord, and the blessing of life, refuge, and salvation is yours. Examine every person and story of history of those who chose the defiant side, where are they today? Dead and gone. Where is the King that God the Father established, that many have chosen to reject? On the throne in Heaven reigning still today. Choose wisely, but know the choice is also an easy one. • The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Psalms 2:2-4 – What would be your reaction if you heard that the powers at be in your life currently together began to plot against you to take you down? I’d have to be honest and say I’d find myself worrying and stressing out over something like that taking place. God though just laughs at those powers. Why? Because He knows His power and He knows it far exceeds any power of this world. As we start this new year, remember God’s power is with those who follow Him. When the world’s power comes against you this year, your reaction doesn’t have to be worry, stress, and fear. God is more powerful than anything that will ever come against us and He is fighting for your success. We too can laugh at the efforts of our enemy because the God who loves us holds us and fights for us. Remember this truth as we press on into this new year.
