- He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart…Psalm 15:2 – This verse is the beginning of an answer to a question David proposed. David asked who was able to walk and stay with God in His holy place? For in David’s time, due to not being a priest himself, David was unable to enter into the Tent of Meeting where the ark was and actually be in the space where God met with people. David asked the question who then could ever find himself in the sacred space of God’s presence? Those whose walk is blameless, set apart from sinfulness altogether could. Those whose actions are focused on what is right in the Lord’s eyes and despised wickedness could. Those who words spoke the truth of God’s word because it was hidden in their heart could. Who can come into God’s presence? Only those whose life has been made holy by the one true God. Jesus Himself made this clear when He said He is the only way to be with the Father and only through Him can we find the salvation we need in order to walk with and dwell with God. Do you desire to abide with the Lord in His space? First commit your life to Jesus, then commit to the holy ways of living that scripture directs us to do. While clearly it’s impossible to be with the Father without Jesus, know it’s also impossible to dwell peacefully in the house of the Lord while actively pursuing sin. Turn from sin to the Lord and find your path drawing close to His tent. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2970
- O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? Psalms 15:1 – This verse asks the question what does the life of a man or woman who follows God and is able to be in His presence look like? What we see following is the answer scripture gives. How many of these are a characteristic of your’s? Blameless. Speaks what is true. Does no evil to his neighbor. Vile people despise you. Who is unchanging in his beliefs. This is even just a start, but it’s a start to work from. Know that it’s because of Jesus we can be with God, but a follower of God is supposed to look and live differently. Here we see some of those differences. Reread over the passage and see today where you can work on growing in. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 776
- …He who does these things shall never be moved. Psalm 15:5b – The psalmist gives a list of things that we as followers of God should make a part of our life. Things such as not slandering another person, letting the sin in another’s story be something we can’t stand to see remain in their life, and to speak truth. The psalm then concludes with our passage, we won’t be moved if we do these things. Moved from where? Seek out verse one for the answer, from God’s holy hill. When we choose to follow Jesus God brings us close to Him and invites us to a life of deep pursuit of Him. He brings us up and places us on His holy hill where He is at. We are with Him, but pursuing Jesus requires a change to some of the ways we live. We can no longer let slander be a part of our life if it was before. We must speak the truth. When we as a follower of Jesus refuse to follow the example set by Jesus, that’s when we’ll feel that “move” from God’s hill. We are choosing to lean away from a life pursuing Jesus. All the peace and strength that comes from being close to Him begins to fade because we are choosing a life God wouldn’t want for us. Choose then the life of pursuing Jesus, the one that fills your life with the blessings of being close to God on his holy hill. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1732
