- Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and maidens together, old men and children! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven. Psalm 148:11-13 – I love how no one is excluded here from the list in who should praise the name of the Lord. Young, old, men, women, kings, and all the people together praising the name of the Lord. This psalm doesn’t even stop there. When you read it fully you see it tell the angels to praise the Lord. It tells the sun, the moon, the stars, the hills, the fruit trees, the birds, and beasts of the field to praise the Lord. What would praise like that look and feel like? Imagine literally everything in creation praising God at once. All people, all animals, every mountain, every star praising God in their special way. Imagine the volume of sound, it would be beyond deafening, yet still not even come close to the level of praise God deserves. That’s the God we’re in a relationship with and who loves us deeply. We truly are a blessed people. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1512
- Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Psalm 148:1 – As you read this psalm, it doesn’t take long to discover the predominant command given to God’s people within the passage. We are to praise the Lord. All of heaven, all the angels, all the creatures in the sea, all the beasts of the field, all the mountains and hill, and all the people are to praise the Lord. We then don’t have to walk away from this passage in a posture of confusion or wondering as to what God desires from us today. He desires our praise. How then are you praising the Lord today? Speaking of Him to others gives Him praise. Reading and meditating on His word gives Him praise. Lifting your voice in worship gives Him praise. Obeying His word within your life gives Him praise. How then are you going to praise the Lord today? Know the heart of the Lord is for all of creation to be praising Him today. While many people will not be praising the Lord today, let that not be said of us who have chosen to follow the Lord. With our voice and with our lives we will praise the Lord for He is worthy to be praised. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2279
