- Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin. Psalm 146:5-9 – Why is he whose hope is in God considered blessed? Because the God they hope in is able to break every chain of the prisoners. The God they hope in can help those who have never seen anything see. He keeps safe the path of those moving ahead and those who have lost have a protector. He who places their hope in God is blessed because God is a blessing. What He brings to the relationship is everything they will ever need and more. As we read yesterday, when God opens His hand it satisfies the desire of every living thing. Today you’re asked to make a choice as to who you will lean on for help and who you will place your hope in. Remember how so many other things have failed you and compare what they gave you to the list scripture here gives on what God brings. Truly there is salvation in no other but God. - Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.4 When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish. Psalm 146:3-4 – The message within this psalm resonates with a massive piece of our teachings on Sundays within our church these past few weeks. That there is no salvation for our souls that can be offered by man. Leaders, princes, kings, presidents, emperors, teachers, nor pastors can offer a single person the salvation for their souls that they need. There is only one place where we can find such a salvation. There is only one person that can offer to all the salvation needed for our world and that’s Jesus. Sadly, we can listen to the soothing voices of the world assuring us that they can offer the help and life we need, yet instead of their voices please listen to the words of scripture. There is salvation in no other name but the name of Jesus. Don’t place your trust and life in leaders or people or things. Jesus alone can save us from our sins. If you have never experienced the salvation Jesus offer, please reach out to me for I’d love to share all about it with you. If you have experienced Jesus’ salvation, don’t be silent about the blessing you have been given. Share with others all about the life you’ve been blessed with. Take every opportunity given to you to share of the salvation that you have found and that can only be found in Jesus. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2277
