- You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing. Psalm 145:16 – What else in all creation can this be said of? A new president can’t satisfy the desire of every living thing. An old president can’t either. The temptations our enemy gives can’t satisfy the desire of every living thing, nor can the enemy himself do that. Change can’t satisfy the desires of every living thing nor can things staying the same. Holding on to your anger can’t satisfy your every desire nor can holding onto your grudges. The only one in all of existence that can take the role of “You” within our passage and still keep the passage true is Jesus. Jesus can satisfy the desire of every living thing. That means He can satisfy every desire you have too. When Jesus opens His hand to us, the outpouring of blessing that comes from it is far more than we could ever need or want. Why then look for the open hand of anything else when Jesus is freely opening His hand to us and within it is the satisfaction of every desire in life we have? - One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. Psalm 145:4 – I love the message of this verse! Our psalmist gives us directions on how we should be speaking and pouring into those who come after us. That we should tell the generation after us of the works of the Lord and declare the mighty acts of the Lord to them. We shouldn’t keep what we know of the Lord and have experienced of the Lord to ourselves, but we are to share all that with the generation of the church beyond us. What then should we share with this next generation? As other parts in the psalm speaks of, share about how God satisfies the desires of every living thing. Share how the Lord is righteous in all His works. Share how the Lord is near to all who call on Him. Share how He hears the cries of those who fear Him and saves them. For if the previous generation is silent of these things, the next generation may never know what we know. They may see the troubles of the world and see a pursuit of God as not worth the trouble. They may never lean into the Lord for themselves to taste and see for themselves the Lord is good. We then, who have seen how good our God is, need to share what we have seen with those after us. Help them see God is bigger than the troubles of the world and is worth following. Let them see through you just how amazing the Lord is. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2276
