Psalm – Chapter 139

  • How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you. Psalm 139:17-18 – Here the psalmist dwells on how deep and how vast are the thoughts God has towards Him. He writes that if he were to sit and count them they’d number more than the grains of sand. I love this last part as well. Imagine him counting all the thoughts till it exhausted him and he crashes out only to wake realizing the whole time God never left and was only adding to the thoughts He had towards the psalmist. Today if you’re struggling to see your value, spend some extra time in this psalm, placing yourself in the spot of the psalmist. If God has given you more thought than there is sand on earth then you must have some incredible value. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1503
  • O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. Psalm 139:1-4 – While I hope you read the entire chapter every day with these devotionals, be sure to read this psalm in its fullness. We see in it such a marvelous and outstanding truth that should shake us to our core. God knows us and still loves us. This is beyond anything I can begin to fully comprehend when I look at my own story. According to this passage God knows my every thought, He knows my every path, and He even knows every word I’m going to say before I even say it. We see that the Lord is everywhere, seeing everything; there is no place we can find ourselves where we are away from the presence of the Lord and out of His sight. Yet despite seeing us fully and knowing us fully, even including all the really messed us parts, He still loves us and thinks of us more than we could ever know. How truly great is the love of our God! That He would look down on a people like us, know everything about our story, and still say of us, “Beloved son and daughter, you are forgiven.” I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2270
