Psalm – Chapter 136

  • Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:1 – When a word or phrase is repeated in a chapter of scripture usually that means it’s a focal point of the writer and one we should focus on to grasp the meaning behind the passage. So how much should we focus on the phrase “for his steadfast love endures forever” when it’s used 26 times in the same psalm? Here we are called to give thanks to God because of His forever, steadfast love. Give thanks to the One who is over all gods, who made the heavens, who saved His people, and who remembers us even in our low estate. From the beginning, through the trials, in the dark valleys, and in the blessing God’s love has remained. It’s steadfast and will be a part of our story forever. Let’s take time then today to pause and say thank you for this amazing love God has, is, and always will show us. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1500
  • Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:26 – A helpful bible study tip I love to share is that if a word or phrase is repeated in a chapter or section of scripture, take note because that’s something the author was trying to get the reader to focus on. So how important do you think our psalmist must have believed us knowing God’s “steadfast love endures forever” is if he repeated it 26 times in one psalm? Every single verse has this phrase declaring the foreverness of God’s steadfast love. His love created all the wonders within the Heavens. His love took down the enemies of His people and set them free. His love saw His people when they were low and empty and lifted them high and filled them. A constant for them through every day, every season, every struggle, and every attack was the enduring, steadfast love of God. So is it with us today. Never will there a be day that God’s enduring, steadfast love is not with us. There will never be a struggle or attack from Satan or confusing situation or time of loss that we’ll have to walk through without the enduring, steadfast love of the Lord remaining with us. For His steadfast love endures forever. Praise the Lord that we have a Savior whose love endures all things and remains steadfast within our story.
