- It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore. Psalm 133:3 – For “there” the Lord has commanded the blessing of life forevermore. Where is “there?” In finding peace and unity with our brother. That the true blessing in life comes when reconciliation is found between those who are hurt and they are able to dwell together in unity. This then may be how God is seeking for you to grow this year. To find healing and unity with someone that the past has brought tension and distance with. Scripture tells us to seek peace with others as far as we can. If then there is someone who currently you aren’t at peace with is there a way to find healing there? With some people healing isn’t as possible and having some people back in your story isn’t safe. So of course be wise, but also don’t make excuses because you enjoy holding onto your anger and grudges. If peace is able to be found, let’s seek it out. - Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes! Psalm 133:1-2 – When first reading over this psalm, I could grasp the meaning quickly of verse one. Of course, it’s beautiful and good when brothers come together in unity. If you’ve been listening to any of my sermons this past month, you know we’ve been talking about this very thing. Verse two though, when it speaks about the oil, confused me a little, yet after some studying this is what I believe is being spoken. When Aaron the high priest was anointed as the high priest they poured oil over his head just like we see recounted in the psalm. The meaning though behind this is important. It was to consecrate, to declare something sacred unto God, Aaron and bring the blessing and protection of the Lord over Aaron. Our passage then is saying that when there is togetherness and unity between brothers in Christ, this is something sacred and holy unto God and deeply pleasing to Him. This unity also invites the blessing and protection of the Lord over the brothers for they are in step with the commands of scripture and using a massive means God designed for the church to find support…each other. So finding reconciliation and unity with your brothers and sisters in Christ isn’t just the right thing you better do, it is a deeply pleasing act unto God and invites God’s blessing on your life. Be willing then to make whatever effort necessary you must in order to bring about togetherness with each of your brothers and sisters in Christ. Refuse to exist in an unblessed, unprotected, and unholy unto God manner with those you will be spending eternity with someday. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2264
