- Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! Psalm 128:1 – Everyone. What an amazingly important word. This tells us that it’s not only the elite, or the rich, or the talented that have the option of God’s blessing. It doesn’t say we have to of had a perfect past or never made a mistake to find His blessing. It says anyone who chooses today to fear the Lord is blessed by Him. So the only thing keeping you from experiencing God’s blessing is your choice to not fear Him; to respect and follow His ways. How beautiful is it today knowing that it’s not your past or where you’ve come from that determines if we qualify for God’s blessing. It’s your choice today to follow Him or not. Walk then in His ways today to find yourself moving closer to His blessing. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1356
- Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord. Psalm 128:3-4 – This entire psalm speaks of the blessings attached to those who fear and follow the Lord. What caught my attention today was the type of blessing that was considered a rich, full blessing of the Lord. It wasn’t riches beyond compare or land or enemies vanquished. The blessing was family. The blessing for the man was a fruitful wife and children around his table and being able to see his children’s children. How I’m not wanting us to take this is that if this isn’t your story that you aren’t blessed by the Lord. That if you don’t have a spouse or children or aren’t able to see the days of your grandchildren that you have missed the blessing of the Lord. What we see in this passage is that God understood what sort of gift was going to truly bless the ones who followed Him. Here it’s family. We do see in other scriptures God bless with money and land and the end of one’s enemies. He understands the needs of those who follow Him and blesses accordingly. What’s our need then today? First and foremost, a Savior, and that has been given to us. We also need forgiveness, God’s word, community with other believers, grace, and God’s love, all of which we have given to us by God. Today know God sees our faithfulness and He also recognizes our needs. Not only our spiritual needs but our physical ones to. How, when, and in what shape the blessing will come is something I can’t tell you, but I want to encourage you to remain faithful to the Lord daily. Trust how, when, and in what shape He chooses to bless is exactly what you need to continue serving Him. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2259
