- When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Psalm 126:1 – “Wow, I must be dreaming.” We’ve all said or though that at some point, but what caused that way of thinking? Something amazing must have happened and it was hard to believe that it was reality and not just some fantasy we wish about happening. That’s the image scripture is giving here about how the restoration God brought looked like to His people. It was so amazing that they had a hard time accepting it was reality and not just a dream. We must remember this is the level our God is capable of and works on. He has unlimited power and all things in creation are His to use as He wishes. So lean on Him and expect His coming through for you. When He does and it’s better than you could have imagined, know this is the reality God has led you into. Not some fantasy that is too distance to touch, but the reality that God created for you and led you into. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1354
- When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad. Psalm 126:1-3 – I love the wording in this passage! As they looked back at how the Lord had taken care of them out of their distress, the provision was like that of a dream. Their voices couldn’t help but praise the Lord after being caught up in His blessing. In verse two we see the world around them also was able to get a chance to witness all that God can do. The world looked and marveled and said, “The Lord has done great things for them.” How though did it get to such a point that even the non-followers of God around them were acknowledging the hand of the Lord in their life? Because those who received the blessing of the Lord proclaimed God’s goodness with shouts of joy and laughter. The world was able to see what God can do because those who were blessed by the Lord didn’t remain silent about it. We must remember, as verse three shares, the Lord has done great things for us as well. We are dwelling today in blessing. We have God’s word given to us, we have the salvation we need freely given to us, we have God listening to us and with us always. This doesn’t even begin to touch the overflow of worldly blessings we have received within our life and are enjoying even today. We too have been greatly blessed, the question is, are we silent about it? Would the non-followers of Jesus around us be able to declare God’s goodness because we shared with them the ways God has come through for us? Let’s make it our aim that silence isn’t our response to the blessings God has poured into our life. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2257
