- For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good. Psalm 122:9 – The psalmist speaks of the city of Jerusalem. He’s saying that since the house of the Lord is within your walls Jerusalem, I will use all that I have to seek your good. I’ll use my talents, my resources, my time, and all my efforts to seek the good of where the Lord is worshipped and resides. So for us today, where in the temple of of our God? Where does the Spirit of our God reside? Within us. Within our fellow believers. Let’s seek then the good of our fellow believers like the psalmist said he’d seek the good of Jerusalem. Let’s exhaust our efforts, our talents, our time, our resources to seek out the good of our church family. Because within them is the Spirit of our God and they are carries of the light of the world. If we can help the stand and shine better, we should. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1350
- I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” Psalm 122:1 – Our psalmist recounts a time when he was heavy hearted and burdened by life. In that heaviness those around him encouraged him and reminded him to come to the Lord. Instead of turning to other things, instead of remaining settled in the burdened state, let’s together go to the Lord and find what we need. That invitation brought joy and gladness to his heart. Know there is power in your invitation. Those around us may be heavy hearted and burdened by life. While they should be turning to the Lord, so many of the other options in life to handle their burdens have become their choice instead. Yet, gladness and relief isn’t being found in those other options so they are still burden and now just more drained because the places they hoped would help didn’t. Our role is to point people to Jesus. Point the heavy hearted to Jesus to encourage them to give their heart fully over to Him to hold. Point the burdened by life to Jesus to help them see that at His feet we can lay so much of what we are carrying. Point the ones who have tried it all and found no rest to Jesus so they can find true peace in their story. Be the one inviting. You have been blessed with air in your lungs, the ability to speak, the knowledge of language, and the relationships with others. You have all the pieces needed to speak the invitation, “Let’s go together to God.” Let’s make it our aim to help every restless soul that God brings into our life know there is a Savior named Jesus that can help them. I love you, but Jesus loves you more….and let’s go together to God! – Mac – Daily DEVO 2253
