Psalm – Chapter 118

  • I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the Lord helped me. Psalm 118:13 – This is the contrast we need to see when we look at our enemy and God. Our enemy wants us flat on the ground, face in the dirt. Weighed down by our mistakes and guilt, too ashamed to even try to lift ourselves up. Yet what God does is He reaches down, brushes all the shame off us, and helps us up. So today does the first part of our verse resonate with you? You would say that you’ve been pushed hard to the ground, you can taste the dirt in your mouth, and the shame is too much to bear to even try to get up? Know God is reaching out His helping hand to you as you read this, offering you the strength and forgiveness you need to stand back up. Take it and begin walking again. • Out of my distress I called on the LORD; the LORD answered me and set me free. Psalm 118:5 – I’m unsure of where you are at today, but this verse resonated with my heart this morning and some of the things I’m navigating today in my own life. Listen to the truth of scripture. When you call on the Lord in your time of need two things we can be assured of. God answers and God grants freedom. The voice of the Lord will be spoken into your life and over your struggle and an answer will be given. Yes, the answer may come not when you expect it to or in the shape you expect it to, but a truth we can rest on is that God will not leave us unanswered. Also the voice of our God has a heart of setting us free. Free of the feelings that we are left alone in our struggle. Free from the guilt and shame the enemy wants to pour over us. Free from the sin and the enemy that wants to find victory in our story. We are heard by God, we are answered by God, and we are set free by God. Be sure then in your time of need to lift your voice to the Most High. He will be your help, your shelter, and your salvation. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2249
