- Praise the Lord, all nations! Extol him, all peoples! For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord! Psalm 117 – Praise the Lord! Why? Because He is forcing us to? Because He’s holding a punishment over our heads if we don’t? Because He threatens to remove blessings from our life if we don’t? No, because His steadfast love for us is great and His faithfulness to us is forever. We see in this short, but amazing, psalm that our praise of God is not for the purpose of bribing God into doing something for us or keeping Him from doing something harmful to us. Our praise is a result of what He’s long already done for us, is currently doing for us, and at the promise of all that He will do for us. So praise the Lord today! Not because you have to, but because you realize how much He’s done in your story and how deserving of your praise He is. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1345
- Praise the Lord, all nations! Extol him, all peoples! Psalm 117:1 – This verse speaks a truth that is for you today and for me; praise should be coming from our lives to the Lord. Shouts of praise should be coming from us to God. Our hands should be lifted high and serving hard to praise the Lord. Our hearts should be filled with the praise of Heaven. This is also something not just for a select few whose lives are going good right now. All nations, all peoples, praise the Lord. Meaning today our life may not be necessarily in a praising-the-Lord type season, yet praise should still be coming from us to Jesus. Maybe we don’t understand how life is turning out or understand some of the moves God just made in our story, yet praise still should be coming from us to Him. It’s important that as follower of Jesus we establish in our minds Jesus is worthy of praise regardless of how the current season of life is unfolding. In the days of blessing, in the years of drought, in the seasons of loss, and the moments of pure joy, Jesus is worthy of all praise. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2248
