- What ails you, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back? O mountains, that you skip like rams? O hills, like lambs? Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob… Psalm 114:5-7 – Pause for a moment and actually imagine that just the presence of God can cause all this. That mountains and hills lift from their places and are moved aside and the seas spread and flee. We have nothing in our world that even comes close to creating such a reaction like this. Yet, this is the power of our God. This is just what can happen when He appears, what about when He speaks or lifts a finger? Scripture says the universe was created by just His Word. Maybe we too need to have a little more of a tremble in our attitude towards Him. Not because we are scared, but because we are beginning to grasp the magnitude and majesty of this God we serve. Let’s try better today to worship Him as He speaks of Himself in scripture rather than how sometimes think of Him. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1342
- The sea looked and fled; Jordan turned back. The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs. Psalm114:3-4 – The psalmist recounts when Israel left Egypt. He speaks of how the earth reacted to the presence of the Lord as He walked with His people. Seas couldn’t remain in their place, rivers stopped flowing, mountains that stood in the way couldn’t help but tremble at the sight of the Lord. Think today of anything else ever in creation that has such power! No weapon could do this or no authority ever put in place had any rivers reacting to them like this. Truly we have a powerful God. Nature sees the truth of this. Every enemy that has tried to stand against our God has learned this truth. How about us as His followers? Let’s make sure today while we are inviting Him close and resting in His arms that we don’t forgot who He is. He is the Lord of Heaven and Earth, God of angel armies, and conqueror of death. We serve a mighty God and that truth should be one we remember. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2245
