- Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high, who looks far down on the heavens and the earth? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people. He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord! Psalm 113:5-9 – You get a true view of someone’s character when you look at what they do with power. Do they end up using it for their own benefit or do they use it for others. Here our passage is speaking of the power and majesty of God and how no one is like Him. How then do we see God using His power? For us. To raise the poor up from the dust and to help the barren find the joy of life. This is just beginning of the character of our God. What we see about God is that He’s truly a loving, caring God that wants our best. He has the power to create the universe, but chooses to work in the details of our life so we can be blessed. That’s our God. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1341
- From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised! Psalm 113:3 – Are you further east than the sun rises? Are you further west than the sun sets? If somehow you are, then I suppose this passage doesn’t apply to you, but since it’s impossible to be either of those things what scripture is saying is for you! All people should be praising the name of the Lord. From as far east as you can go to as far west as you can go, all should be praising the name of Jesus. Today, since we fall into this category scripture is speaking of, how can we praise the name of the Lord. One way is to have the name of Jesus being spoken by us today. Let others hear you speak well of Him and be speaking about Him to people who may not yet know Him. Praise His name by speaking His name today. So when the sun sets tonight in the west you can see the glory of the Lord displayed in the sunset and say I have praised the name of the Lord today. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2244
