- Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. Psalm 111:2 – Imagine being wowed by a magician on stage. Then after the show he invites you behind the scenes and tells you what any magician never tells, how he did his tricks. Suddenly the awe just goes away when you look deeper into the works of the magician and see how simple most all the tricks really were. What we see in the passage though is very different. It says those who deeply study the great works of God come away delighted by them. Not filled with disappointment when they get behind the scenes, but filled with even more awe and amazement. The more you dig into the works and words of God, the more you’ll walk away from them in awe of God, not disappointment. So today, dig in. Meaning open scripture and unpack what God has done. Recount all the ways He’s done great works even in your own story. Begin peeling back the layers to see how He did what He did and leave that path amazed at the sovereignty and power of our God. - He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations. Psalm 111:6- The Israelites got the wonderful opportunity to see the power of God displayed in front of them by how He worked on their behalf. God’s power was seen when He shut down the hold the Egyptians had over them. They were able to see God’s power in the ways He provided for them during the time in the wilderness. God also established His power before them by removing all the peoples from the land He promised them. God made clear His power by the ways He worked in their midst. Today, we can say the same thing about God’s power within our story. In giving us an inheritance of Heaven and the blessing of salvation through the work of the cross, we get a firsthand view of the power of God. We see in our own lives how He can shut down the enemy’s hold on us and can destroy sin within our story. He has shown us death has no grip on Him. And when we take our first steps into Heaven there will be no questioning His power there. He showed His people in scripture His power and He has continued that truth with His people today.
