- The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, “You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” Psalm 110:4 – Our Messiah, Jesus, has not and will not change. His mind is set on being our high priest who intercedes between us and God the Father. Nothing will change His mind on that. Not the current state of the world, not the mess ups you make, not even the doubts you have about God. Jesus has set Himself up in your story as your Savior for all time and nothing will cause Him to shift around on that. Take hope from this that while we may be shaky in our devotion to God, He remains steadfast. You never have to worry that Jesus may step away from His role as your intercessor and savior. That’s His role forever and He takes joy in being that for you. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1338
- Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours. Psalm 110:3 – I settled on this verse today for my devotion because it confused me the most and I wanted to figure it out. Yet, after some study of it, I’m still pretty confused! I even found this quote from Charles Spurgeon in a sermon he did on this verses, “After looking at the old translations, and employing every means in my power to discover the meaning, I found myself as far off as when I began.” In short, this is a confusing passage, but here’s what I’m beginning to gather from it. It’s speaking of Jesus coming into power. When Jesus takes power people will come to Him willingly and in a holy manner. The part about the womb and dew I’m still confused on so please take that into consideration as I’m explaining it. One way to explain it that Christ will have the same power and vigor as ever as our leader. He will always have the strength He needs to lead us for He’s not some old leader who can’t fight or stand up for us. In short I see this passage as a reminder of the power and coming of the Lord. For us He has come and is coming again. We have already seen His power and majesty when He first came and we can read and wait in expectation for the power and glory to come in His second coming. He will come in strength and His holy ones won’t come to Him reluctantly but with excitement. Take courage in this message! Also, hopefully a devotion like this shows you that just because a scripture is confusing it doesn’t mean you can’t still lean into it. I still don’t fully grasp the passage, but God can still guide us even with difficult passages if our heart is open to being guided. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2241
