- Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble. Psalm 107:2 – Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in. Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction. Some were fools through their sinful ways and because of their iniquities suffered affliction. All these are just a few ways this psalm and scripture speaks of where people can find themselves. Yet here in our passage, we see that while these “some” found themselves in dark, painful spots, they found redemption in God. Have you wandered? Have you found yourself sitting in darkness? Have you put yourself in pain because of your own foolish choices? Take heart because we see here in scripture that those who find themselves in places such as these can call out and be redeemed. If you have be redeemed like the ones spoken of in our passage, let us speak to others of the redemption we’ve found. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1335
- Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! Psalm 107:8 – Four times we see this verse in our psalm (v.8,15,21,31). So who is the “them” spoken of? Thankfully our passage also answers that. Some of the “them” were those who wandered hungry and thirsty in desert land. Some were those imprisoned by hurt and chains. Some were those who found themselves in a mess due to their own sinful choices. Some were even those who just found themselves in the middle of God’s powerful nature. Each though in their time of need cried out to the Lord for help and He came to their rescue. Let “them,” let all those who God came to the rescue for, thank the Lord for His steadfast love. Let us remember something important here with all this, we too have had the Lord come to our rescue. We have been saved from our sin and distress. So let us today give thanks to the Lord for His steadfast love. He has worked wonders in our story and He deserves us responding to Him with thankfulness in how we live our life for Him and with Him.
