Psalm – Chapter 105

  • Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Psalm 105:1-2 – And that’s exactly what this psalm did. It made known God’s deeds among the people and told of his wondrous works. Because when you share what you’ve seen God do in your story people who haven’t yet seen things like that begin to see God for who He truly is. How then could you help people who haven’t yet seen God like they need to begin to see Him more like the need to? Tell them of the wondrous works you’ve seen Him do. Whether those works are from your story, someone else’s story, or the story of scripture, help them see God for who He truly is. Let your story change the narrative they have of God. • And he gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil, that they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Praise the Lord! Psalm 105:44-45 – This psalm is a snapshot of the workings of God within Old Testament so far. The psalmist shares all the wonderful and miraculous things God did for His people Israel. A good question though that comes up after reading such a chapter is, “Why did God do all this?” One, God had made a promise to Abraham and God never fails to keep His word.  But we see a second, equally as powerful, answer in our passage. God wanted to give them what they needed in order to keep His statues and laws. He wanted to set them up for success in being able to follow Him. God wanted a relationship with His people, He wanted to be their God. So He did everything needed in order to foster that coming about. Today know the reason God takes care of and blesses us is the same. He is keeping faithful to His promises and He desires relationship with us. He wants us to be able to faithfully follow after Him like He says to in His word so He provides what we need to do that. So remember today the blessing of breath in your lungs, the blessing of all your things around you today, even the blessing of your life has been given for the purpose of you pursuing the Lord and what He wants.
