- For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalms 100:5- God is good. Maybe that short little phrase is what you needed to be reminded of today. For life is going to paint out a picture for you that says God isn’t for you and isn’t good. Sometimes we get faced with situations that boggle us as to why a God who is good would let something like that be apart of our story. Yet even when life is telling you that God isn’t good, we must remember He is. Hardship, struggles, and loss are a part of life, thankfully so is God and His love. Don’t let the situation that’s right in front of your eyes be what determines if God is good. Let the entire story of scripture and the multitude of blessings God has brought into your story be what determines God’s goodness. God is good, and His love and faithfulness to you endures forever. - Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Psalms 100:3 – And we are His. I love how this passage not only reminds us of this but declares it over us. God is God and we are His. What does that mean for us? That means we get to enjoy the benefits of His pasture. The joy, peace, purpose, forgiveness, freedom, and salvation that are His and He gives freely to those that are His. We though must remember as God’s people we receive from Him all that He gives, but He also is the leader and Lord over our life. He sets the direction and we follow. So being God’s people is a wonderful blessing but we also must be willing to let go of the reigns of our life and let Him lead. Know that sacrifice is more than worth it for all those who choose to let God lead. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1163
- Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Psalm 100:2 – Last night we had 15 of our students respond to the pastor’s invitation last night. No one placed their faith in Christ, but God stirred something in them and they felt moved to come forward and then chat with one of us leaders about it. They took steps towards Him for the first time or back towards Him finally. That’s why I serve the Lord with gladness. No, camp isn’t all fun for us leaders. The bunk beds aren’t my bed at home, the heat is unbearable, and don’t get me started on the smell of the dorms. So why serve? Because like the psalmist, I’ve seen the beauty of the work of my Savior, I know that I am His, I know that He is good and His steadfast love endures forever…so I want to serve and help others to know that too. So don’t feel bad for me having to deal with the heat and smell, I’m good! My leaders and I just got to walk with 15 students wanting to respond to the unique ways God is stirring their heart. It’s not me missing out, it’s you if you’re not here! So if you’ve seen the beauty of God like our psalmist, how are you going to serve Him with gladness?
