Psalm – Chapter 10

  • O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more. Psalm 10:17-18 – When we begin this psalm, we get a pretty hopeless image for the helpless. Those that oppressed them, the wicked, seemed to have everything going for them. The wicked are prospering in everything they do, they are seeing reward for all their evil deeds, and it just appears as if God is blind to their evil for no punishment seems to find its way to them. This psalm though is a beautiful reminder to not just accept the surface layers as the truth. Yes it may appear this way, but God is not like how the wicked speak of Him in this psalm. The Lord hears the heart song of those being oppressed by the wicked and the Lord stands for justice. He strengthens those that have no one and comes to the aid of those in need of help. And for those who strike terror on the earth…they will be no more. This evil will find its punishment and those that brought terror to the fatherless and oppressed will fade like dust in the wind. If you find yourself right now in a place of helplessness know the Lord is present and He is aware of your situation. He not only hears your cries, He hears the words of the wicked around you. He also is not a God who remains still when His children are being oppressed. Trust in the Lord and wait on the Lord. He will come through for you and you will come through this. You are never hopeless if you place your hope in Jesus. I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 2965

  • But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless. Psalms 10:14 – In verse 11 we see this enemy that is being quoted through the psalm summing up his statement with I can do what I want because God will never see it. But as the verse we are looking at today reminds us, God does see it. God sees the work the enemy is bringing and the pain you are in. God sees you. While at times it may feel as if God has hidden Himself from you and your struggle, know He hasn’t and never will. Seek Him and you will find Him. He is always a refuge for those who pursue Him. Today, while we all are in our own types of struggles, let’s give more of our minds to dwelling on the God who is always with us rather than the temporary struggling in front of us. • He says in his heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.” Psalm 10:11 – God sees it. Whatever it is we must remember God sees it. This is a truth I believe most all of us are aware of, but nevertheless we entertain the idea sometimes that God is just not going to notice a sin once in awhile. Thinking we can entertain our worry, our lust, or our pride and simply go on with life like it never happened. While our sin has been forgiven for all time when it comes to our salvation, sin can still disrupt our walk with God in great ways. It can still steal our joy, kill our relationships, and destroy our peace. Just because we think we’ve gotten away with a sin doesn’t mean we still won’t feel the repercussions of it within our walk. Be wise then about the sin in your life. Know God isn’t blind to it and sin still can interfere with our walk with Him. What then is a sin in your story that you’ve been hiding but know is still causing issues within your walk? I love you, but Jesus loves you more – Mac – Daily DEVO 1727
